Final Project

For my final project I created a Vineyard and Winery. The entire project was made with the intent for my family to hopefully use one day in the future (maybe when my parent's retire)! The logo uses very subtle colors, a deep purple and dark green, which are common colors seen through out a winery. The font I used was simple, yet elegant which I deemed appropriate for this type of business. My target audience was people with prestige and class hence the simplicity and (attempted) professionalism of my project! I enjoyed this final project very much because we were given the opportunity to create something that could potentially be useful in the future. I did not face many challenges with this project (thankfully). I incorporated everything I learned through out the semester and overall I am extremely happy with the finished pieces.

·      In two years, we would like this company to be seen as a place of prestige and class. We would like to be known for our exquisite wine, divine wine bottles and also for our eighteen hole golf course.

Lyrical Collage

Above is my final Lyrical Collage. I chose a country song titled, "Live Like You Were Dying" by Tim McGraw. This song is very special to me and the lyrics are absolutely beautiful and inspirational. This song does relate to my life personally, when I was given the horrific news that my father had cancer. He was the one who introduced this song to me and ever since, we have decided to live our lives the same way. Instead of wallowing in self pity and letting the days just pass by, everyone should live each day as if they were to die tomorrow.

"I went skydiving.
I went rocky-mountain climbing,
I went 2.7 seconds on a bull named Fu Man Chu
And I loved deeper,
And I spoke sweeter,
And I gave forgiveness I'd been denying,
And he said someday I hope you get the chance
to live like you were dying."

Below are the images which I extracted and edited to create my final picture. I used tools including the magnetic lasso tool, the quick selection tool, the eraser tool, the smudge tool, etc. I also adjusted the opacity of some of my images as well as resized, scaled, and rotated some.

This was my first attempt ever creating an image using multiple logos on photoshop. I also had to edit out the news casters imperfections. To do this, I used the burn to to eliminate gray hairs and I used the patch tool to get rid of the dark circles under his eyes and wrinkles.

Tuesday, April 9, 2013

For this assignment I used numerous types of brushes to create the sorority letters and the pattern seen inside of the letters. For the background, I took a cloud pattern, added some gradience and therefore created a funky, abstract background. I am still getting introduced to photoshop and still have a lot to learn. Hopefully by the end of lecture this semester, I will be able to successfully create a more realistic pattern.

Italy Assignment

My dream has always been to travel to Italy. My family comes solely from Italian roots. Listening to stories from my grandparents about their lives back in Italy is always a wonderful experience but I will never truly understand until I see for myself. Eventually, my family and I will travel to Italy (hopefully for my college graduation) but until then, photoshopping my face into a picture will have to suffice! This is my first time using Photoshop. I think it is a spectacular program and capable of creating images such as this, almost as if they were authentic. I am truly amazed and look forward to exploring the program further.

Vector Illustration

This is my vector illustration of Tyra Banks' black and white photo. I took  more of a cartoon style approach because I found it difficult to make the shading look authentic. The most difficult part of her face to animate was her lips and eyes because they were the most detailed. This was my first attempt at recreating a human face with Adobe Illustrator while using the many tools we discussed in class. It was most definitely a challenge, but I look forward to exercising my skills in the future with other assignments.

Exquisite Corpse

For my exquisite corpse project, I chose to recreate the buff/t-rex, soccer playing dog. This project was definitely challenging because I had to make my own personal artistic decisions based on the original drawing which was not done by me. It was very hard to keep aspects of the body parts symmetrical. Overall, I considered this to be a fun assignment. It gave me a chance to fool around with the pen tool.

My Final Logo

I chose to create a fictional logo for a family winery. I researched many font styles and recreated this using the pen tool. I incorporated the two colors most frequently seen in a vineyard, a dark green, and a deep purple to correspond to the color of grapes when mashed and squeezed to create fine wine. I felt that the style of text I chose is both elegant and easy to read. When shrunken down to a smaller size to be placed on products, the logo is still legible. The grapevines around the initials of the company name I felt were appropriate graphics.

Here is my final logo:

Wednesday, February 20, 2013

The Alex and Ani logo seems perfect to me. It uses the right amount of space so that the logo may fit on their products if shrunken. The font is clear to read especially with the use of bold letters. However, the picture of the flower seems irrelevant to the products that they make which are jewelry.

The Chipotle logo is well done. The font is clear and easy to read. The logo gets right to the point and by looking at this image the viewer is made aware that this is a Mexican restaurant. The pepper also implies that the food is spicy. The colors are also relevant to the company/products. The color red is usually associated with heat which makes perfect sense in this case. The different shade of red in the middle of the circle is a nice contrast.

Blacksmith Tavern's logo may need a bit of work. I predict that when the font is minimized to put on products, it may become harder to read due to the type of font. However, the medieval text is perfect for the type of place it is. I would probably chose a different background to go with the logo to somehow allude to the fact that this place is a sports bar. I would also keep the fonts the same or keep the same size or font color to maintain consistency.

The Carrabba's logo is very plain yet well done. It is an Italian restaurant which is blatantly shown on the logo and they also demonstrated this using the Italian flag's colors. Another plus is that the font is easy to read even when shrunken down to place on plates, napkins, to go boxes, etc.

The Wendy's logo is one of the most poorly done logo's. Although it is a well known logo and very mainstream, the actual logo has way too much going on. There is too much text, using the mission statement "Quality is Our Recipe" along with "Old Fashioned Hamburgers" and the company name "Wendy's" is throwing a lot of information at the viewer. Also, I don't feel as though the colors blend well together. Red and yellow reminds me of McDonald's, however, with McDonald's it makes sense because of the golden arches. If I were to remake this image, I would use the portrait of Wendy and eliminate the mission statement and the old fashioned hamburgers

"My First Coding Project...Ever"

Never in my life have I taken any computer graphics or digital arts courses. Coding was like a foreign language to me. However, from what I learned, I have come to appreciate how creative and talented people must be to work with coding everyday. For my project, I decided to take a more abstract route and incorporate a plethora of shapes with various colors and gradients. I began with a blank page and a rectangle and from there I attempted to intertwine different shapes into one another. I hope to further my skills through out the remainder of this course and hopefully be able to recreate some of my favorite pieces of art.

My name is Chelsea Sinclair and I am a sophomore at the University of Tampa. I am a Writing major with a minor in Film and Media Arts. I know, what you're thinking. She is never going to get a job. I'm pretty nervous about that too, but it's what I love to do. Wish me luck.
xoxo,
Chelsea
